Well we are several days into our trip to Nappanee, IN. In fact today was the first day we visited the factory to see our new coach being built. It is on the new Ultrasteer Freightliner Chassis with the all new STAR frame by Newmar. The chassis has a tag axle that actually turns at slow speeds to help increase the turning radius in tight places such as rv parks. The STAR frame is strengthed to support the additional weight that is being put on these units, especially those with the full wall slide (fws). There are numerous other more subtle improvements to this years model, but those two are the significant ones.
We are staying in our TT at the PLA-MOR Campground in Bremen, IN about 6 miles from Newmar in Nappanee. It is a wide open place with mostly grassy sites. Ours is really level, but some are not and I think that heavy rain could cause a problem in some areas. All in all a good Continue reading It’s Finally Happening→
We are starting to finalize our next trip and probably our final big adventure in the “Ole Fun Finder”. If all goes well, it will be traded in so that we can take delivery of the Newmar. Since we are taking an October delivery instead of the September 14th date that Newmar offered, we decided to head back to Nappanee and watch the build in Plant 7 from July 29th thru August 4th. Its a bit of a trip, but I think we would regret not going. We are also looking forward to meeting some other Newmar owners who we met on one of the Newmar forums. One of the best things that we have found in our short RV life is that we have met a lot of great people and made a lot of new friends.
We try to pick a different route each time we go North so we can see new sites, plus we try to work in a new casino for Liz when we can (I enjoy it too). I’m also a fan of the tv show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (Triple D) hosted by Guy Fieri so I downloaded an app that shows the Continue reading Newmar Trip→
We finally were contacted by Newmar with the manufacture dates for our Ventana 4041. We are really starting to get close, and beginning to realize that we are moving from the planning stages to achieving our dream. Carl from Newmar advised that our coach will be coming out of the chassis shop and will be in the final assembly building from July 29th thru August 4th. It will then go to paint and be ready for Newmar’s inspection process on August 18th. We were initially scheduled for the week long customer pick up process starting on September 14th. Liz needs to be in Massachusetts for the Alzeimers walk on October 4th. This doesn’t leave us enough time to do the week long pick up, visit my mother in Illinois and get Liz back so she can get to Massachusetts in time (we want to enjoy that first trip and not rush). So, we moved the delivery date to October 12th (Liz’s birthday week :-). We are disappointed to have to wait another month, but its for a good cause and the extra wait knowing our new coach is setting in Indiana will make it even more Continue reading Got That Call From Newmar→
